Our MAD Youth November activity:

Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk

This activity has been
Canceled
as a MAD Youth event this year.
BNP was dropped as
a designated beneficiary of this walk.
They are re-applying to be accepted as one
for the 2011 walk.

November 20, 2010
to benefit the Washington City CoB
   Brethren Nutrition Program Soup Kitchen
(designate "BNP" as beneficiary when you register)
( days away)

The Walkathon itself begins at 9pm, but plan to arrive early! The place will be crowded. To participate you must be registered. The cost is $15 for youth and $25 for adult (p.s. this is a fund-raiser for the homeless - the more you give above this cost, the more you share with those in need - get folks to sponsor you). Hey, you get a cool long-sleeved t-shirt to wear (and afterwards a water bottle and granola bar). In this year of fund-raising to go to NYC, how about raising money for someone besides yourself?

                                                  Idea!
Plan a lock-in for your church youth group. Maybe invite the youth from another church to join you. Then travel together to D.C. and join us for the walk. Bring a sign on a stick to carry that identifies your church. Keep it simple. Enjoy being a witness.

Register that morning in front of the Agriculture (USDA) building facing the mall. Registration opens at 7am. The best way of traveling downtown is to ride the Metro subway, getting off at the Smithsonian Metro Station on the Orange Line. (You can also pre-register online, then simply check-in. Pre-registration tables open at 8:30am)

After registering, head down to the front steps (facing the mall) of the Hirshhorn Museum to join other Brethren folks (look for MAD youth among the group), so we can all walk together. Click here for a map of the walkathon route.

The Brethren Nutrition Program is located in the
Washington City Church of the Brethren
