Meet your
Cabinet Members

The 2002-2003 cabinet is pictured above and self-described below. Of this crew, only one moved on - Shenifa. May God bless her new steps as she heads to college. The rest of this team stayed on for another fantastic year!

Daniel Wheatley
"Hi (bonjour)! My name is Daniel Wheatley, and I am one of the multiple members of the Cabinet who attends Long Green Valley Church of the Brethren in Glen Arm, MD. I am currently a junior at Baltimore City College High School in my home city of Baltimore. My greatest passion is singing (and praising God, of course!), so naturally for freshman and sophomore years I was on the school choir, but now I am going to focus on my duties as a Cabinet member (and getting into a good college). We are here as a Cabinet to have fun and praise God, so if any youth or advisors have any questions about upcoming events, please do not hesitate to contact me personally. Hope to have a great year!"
Jan Walker (advisor)
"I’m serving my fifth year as an advisor to the Cabinet.  I’m a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren in Mt. Airy, MD, where I’ve been working with the youth for the past 13 years (that means I’ve survived 4 NYC’s as an advisor! – wow, makes me feel old).  My paying job is as a computer programmer/analyst and air pollution scientist with an environmental consulting firm near Columbia, MD.  Of course, the job(s) that I don’t get a paycheck for is all the church volunteer work.   In my spare time (not much of that some weeks), I enjoy sewing and needlework (especially cross-stitch), reading, playing the piano, and watching sports.  Whenever possible I am in attendance, cheering loudly, at my nephews’ games.  I’ve spent a week of my vacation as a Director for Youth Camp at Shepherd’s Spring 5 of the past 6 summers."
Pete Haynes (advisor)
"This is my third year on district cabinet. In 1991, I co-directed the first week of Youth Camp at Shepherd's Spring. Over twenty years ago I was a youth pastor in Indiana, attending my first NYC in 1982. Me, my wife (Karen), and another couple formed and led the Northern Indiana District Youth Choir way back then. Does that make me old? Since attending Bethany Seminary, I've pastored two congregations - the last 12 years at Long Green Valley Church of the Brethren in the northern suburbs of Baltimore. I have four children, ages 8 to 17.  I  love camp, music, drama, Jesus, and His church. If you're still interested, check out more bio info." And, I loved NYC 2002 !
