Words & Tune:  Pete Haynes, 1990
                                         based upon Philippians 4:4-7
            (see also "The Christ Hymn," based upon Philippians 2:6-11;
                     and    "Pressing On,"     based upon Philippians 3:8-16)

            This song flowed out of a pastoral visit with a young couple who had just lost a child due to miscarriage. When I returned home, the words and music simply came to the surface unprovoked. "The joy of the Lord is your strength," as it says in Nehemiah 8:10 - even through difficult moments when happiness is the furthest thing from your mind. The story of this couple continued. They became the parents of not one, but two healthy boys. Others may not be able to experience such happiness, but "the Joy of the Lord" is ever-present.
            This song is dedicated to that young mother.
