Call to Worship

(spoken by one of our guests from the Dominican Republic,
then sung by the pastor, from the back of the sanctuary)

Isaias 55:1-2  (Reina-Valera Antigua)

followed by part 1 of a song titled "Isaiah 55" (©1982, Peter Haynes),
the words to which are:

"Ho everyone who thirsts come to the waters,
and he who has no money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk without money, without price.
Come to the waters, come, buy and eat.

"Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread?
Why do you give your labor for what doesn't satisfy?

"Harken unto me and eat what is good.
My feast brings you delight. So, come unto me."

SHOW ME THE WAY

One: When the path has narrowed and I could not see your face,
All: My steps have held fast to your paths, O God.

One: Though you have tested me and examined my heart,
All: My steps have held fast to your paths, O God.

One: As I have sought refuge in you during times of trouble,
All: My steps have held fast to your paths, O God.

One: I called on you to answer my prayers,
All: My steps have held fast to your paths, O God.

One: My feet did not slip when I walked with you,
All: My steps have held fast to your paths, O God.

One: In righteousness and wonder, I will see your face,
All: My steps will hold fast to your paths, O God.

PRAYER
         God of grace, we can be so demanding. We call on you to hear our prayers, to give us refuge, to show us the wonders of your great love. And in return, you simply ask us to stay on your paths of righteousness. Keep us from slipping so that one day we will see your face and know you fully and deeply. Amen.

Invitation to the Lord’s Table

         All who are in love and fellowship in the family of God, who do truly and earnestly repent of our sins, who humbly put our trust in Christ, and who desire his help that we might walk in newness of life, are invited to draw near to God and receive - with thanksgiving - this holy communion to our comfort, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Blessing in Spanish and English

Al salir de aquí,
      As you go
,
            Vaya en paz con Dios;
                  Be at peace with God;
            Vaya en paz con el vecino.
                  Be at peace with your neighbor.
            No dejen que el sol se ponga sobre su enojo;
                  Let not the sun set on your anger;
            Dejen que su hablar imparta gracia y aliento;
                  Let your speech impart grace and encouragement;
            Dejen que su labor y su juego muestrcn la alabanza en su corazón;
                  Let your work and play reflect the praise in your heart;
            Dejen que el Espíritu de Dios corra atravez de su vida cada día.
                  Let God’s Spirit flow through your life each day.

Como hijos amados de Dios,
      As beloved children of God,
            Caminen en amor
                  Walk in love
            Según la manera de Cristo
                  After the manner of Christ
            Quien nos ama hasta el fin.
                  Who loves to the end.
                        Amén. Amen.
