Responsive Call to Worship

Leader: Call a solemn assembly
                 And gather the people.
              Let the inhabitants of the land
                 tremble before our God.

People:   God knows all the secrets of our hearts
                 and understands all our ways.

Leader:   The day of God is coming;
                   it is near -
                    a day of clouds and shadows,
                     a day of darkness and great gloom.

People:  God's judgments are blameless and sure,
                 but God's grace is sufficient for all our needs.

Leader:   Rend your hearts and not your garments;
                   come to God with fasting,
                   come with weeping and mourning.

People:  We will worship God
                  with pure and loving hearts.
               We will seek to be faithful
                   to the One who has called us here.

Invocation Prayer

Unison Confession

Father,
    I have sinned against heaven and before you.
I am not worthy to be called your child
    because I have not carried out your will.
But speak a word of comfort and my soul shall be healed.
God, be merciful to me, a sinner.  AMEN
