God
of Light and Life
(preparatory words for worship from the back of the bulletin)
There is
comfort in the dawning of day. As the darkness disappears, so do
our uncertainties and fears. Light reveals the beauty of God's
creation. As far as the eye can see, God is present. Psalm 36:5-10
describes the extent of God's presence and the very character of
God. From the heavens to the clouds. From the mighty mountains to
the great deep. In humans and in animals, the light of God is
present. Even in the shadows of God's light, God's abundance is
made known and we are invited to drink from the fountain of life.
In your light we see light, O God!

Call to
Worship
Psalm 36:5-10 (LB)
Your steadfast
love, O LORD, is as great as all the heavens. Your faithfulness
reaches beyond the clouds. Your justice is as solid as God’s
mountains. Your decisions are as full of wisdom as the oceans are
with water. You are concerned for humans and animals alike. How
precious is your constant love, O God! All humanity takes refuge
in the shadow of your wings. You feed them with blessings from
your own table and let them drink from your rivers of delight.
For you are the
fountain of life; our light is from your light. Pour out your
unfailing love on those who know you! Never stop giving your
salvation to those who long to do your will.

Unison
Prayer
God of light and
life, you reveal yourself to us in thousands of ways each day. Help
us to accept your invitation to turn toward your light to see your
activity and abundance around us. May we have the courage to reflect
your lift into places of darkness so that your steadfast love may be
revealed. May it be so. Amen.

Returning
our Tithes and Offerings
If you have not
already done so, please sign and pass on to the next person the
attendance booklets found at the center of each aisle, while the
ushers receive our offering. First, however, ponder these words from
the first letter of Peter. Listen.
"Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God,
serve one another with whatever gift each of you has
received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very
words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength
that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all
things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the
power forever and ever. Amen." (1
Peter 4:10-11) |

Unison
Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Blessed are you, God of heaven and earth.
In mercy for our fallen world you gave your only Son,
that all
those who believe in him should not perish
but have
eternal life.
We give thanks to you for the salvation
you have
prepared for us through Jesus Christ.
Send now your Holy Spirit into our hearts,
that we may
receive our Lord with a living faith
as he comes
to us in his holy supper.
