Call to
Worship
One: We have gathered as a faith community, to lift our voices
in praise and
adoration,
All: To sing for joy to the Lord,
to shout aloud to
the Rock of our salvation.
One: Encouraged by our unity in Christ and with sisters
and brothers in
this faith community,
All: Strengthened by our being together
we will work for his good
pleasure.
One: Acknowledging and giving thanks to God for
his daily presence
through the Holy Spirit,
All: We realize it is God who works in us to will and
act
according to
his good purpose.

Opening
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for meeting us here.
We confess that too often we miss your presence.
Forgive us when our eyes
are blind or
our hearts are hardened to your grace and mercy.
Clear our vision this day, 0 Lord,
that we may see you more
clearly.
Help us to experience you
in all of life.
Today, as we gather in this place to worship,
may your grace, peace,
and love bless us anew. Amen

For
Children
"God's gift wrapping"
In another by our resident children storyteller, Ed Lewis, a kiwi
fruit and a ginger root provide objects which look not all that
appealing on the outside, but carry a treasure within. What's on
the outside is actually "God's gift wrapping" of what
lies within (Mmmm!, taste the fruit, which also looks good on the
inside. And these Ginger snaps are flavored by what comes from
this ugly? shaped root.) Wonder how this applies to us, and how
God has gift wrapped each person. Look past the wrapping and
discover the gift within!

Returning
our Tithes and Offerings
In his letter
to the church in Ephesus, the apostle Paul sent the following
prayer. Perhaps it can be your prayer as you return your offering
just now. Listen:
"I
pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant
that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power
through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I
pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the
saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
"Now
to him who by the power at work within us is able to
accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine,
to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians
3:16-21)
