Leader: This the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it. People: This is the day that the stone is cast aside
And the mantle of darkness is torn away. Leader: God has swallowed up death forever
And brushed our tears away. People: This is the day of salvation.
Leader: Be glad and rejoice -
The Lord of light has come and reigns forever.
Christ is risen! People: Christ is risen indeed!
All:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The sunrise comes
upon us so quickly, and we are not quite prepared for your
resurrection, Lord. We have been busy coloring eggs, fixing
special foods, waiting for the Easter bunny. We have not had
time to listen.
Yet outside
we hear the joyful sound of birds. We see the blooms bursting
forth from bulbs planted in the cold earth. We feel an
exuberance in the fresh air of the warming spring. You are
alive, O Lord. We are alive in you. With all nature and with
Christians everywhere, we shout the good news: “Christ our Lord
is risen. Alleluia.
Amen.

(Romans 6:1-14, Hebrews 12:1-3, Luke 10:27 from The Message)
Prayer
Gracious God, Power of Life, we praise you that you have not
abandoned us to the living death of sin and despair, but that,
with Jesus Christ, you have lifted us up from the grave. Grant
that we might live in newness of life, that we might ourselves
know the power of the resurrection, now and in the world to
come; for it is in the name of the risen Christ that we pray.
Amen.
May the Living God,
revealed in the Bible and
discovered afresh in the
dawning of each new morning,
bless you with “strength for today and
bright hope for tomorrow.”
May the One who rolled away the stone long ago
pave the way for you, and all of us together,
to follow the risen Christ.
He is alive! Amen.
